Abstract
The purpose of this project was to design a residential wood-framed house in Courtenay, BC. Alan Blakeley, PEng, from McElhanney was the provider and sponsor of this project. The objectives of this project were to calculate the gravity and lateral loads acting on the structure, select wood members to resist the calculated loads, design the footings, create plan view and elevation view drawings, and create a 3D model of the house. A structural analysis using ForteWEB (an initial uncertainty within the scope of this project) was excluded to remain within the time constraint of the project.
